Mr. Wallach received a Tony Award for the original production of Tennessee Williams’ The Rose Tattoo; a leading interpreter of Williams’ work, he also appeared in the original productions of Camino Real and This Property Is Condemned. In the latter production, he met his future wife, Anne Jackson, with whom he co-starred on Broadway in Major Barbara, Rhinoceros, Luv, The Typist and Her Tiger, among many others. His Broadway appearances also include Mr. Roberts, The Teahouse Of The August Moon, Alice In Wonderland, Staircase, and Antony and Cleopatra with Katharine Cornell. His work for television includes Murder She Wrote, Kojak, Highway To Heaven, The Executioner’s Song, and his unforgettable turn as the diabolical Mr. Freeze on Batman. His decades-long career in film began with Baby Doll, for which he won a BAFTA award. He went on to star in The Magnificent Seven, How The West Was Won, Nuts, The Two Jakes, Night and the City, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, and The Godfather: Part Three. Last season, he appeared in the New York productions of Visiting Mr. Green and Tennessee Williams Remembered with Anne Jackson
