William Shakespeare once wrote “All the World’s a Stage” and no other line can better describe the history and philosophy of The Hudson Shakespeare Company. Throughout our history, the company has produced a wide range of titles from the Bard’s plays to modern theater in a variety of outdoor and indoor venues. From parks to courtrooms, our mission has always been a simple one — to give our audience the best theatrical experience possible. Our philosophy in performing Shakespeare’s plays is as equally approachable, the plays were meant for everyone to enjoy. We present the language in a straight forward conversational manner, while staying true to it’s inherent poetry. We perform in a wide range of time periods and settings from Elizabethan to Modern Dress and present our shows very much as Shakespeare’s company did: provide the atmosphere and let the words fire the imagination. Today HSC is the leading producer of outdoor theater on the NJ side of the Hudson.
