Is anyone interested in participating in a summer play reading club? We could all suggest plays to read, pick one of the suggestions for the group to read each week, and then discuss online. If it turns out to be a good thing, we could continue into the fall.

Count me in. But I am not going to be required to write book reports and such am I? I suck at that. I do. Really. Badly. Do.

Well maybe you'll be around to slap me personally. I am coming to the country next weekend and will see MFL either Friday or Saturnday night. It all depends if I feel like being on a commuter train to Joisey on a Friday. Ick.

Great idea! Count me in. As far as plays, I'd love to see us reading Odets or something like that. Discuss whether it holds up. How about Golden Boy. Or how about some O'Casey or Synge. Playboy of the Western World. Some of the plays that were still popular in the 50s and 60s but aren't done much anymore. How about some absurdist stuff? Oh Dad, Poor Dad... Waiting for Godot?

Okay, the first play to be read is GOLDEN BOY by Clifford Odets. Check your library, maybe in an anthology. We will discuss next Wednesday, June 23. Anybody who wants to join in - the more the merrier.

I'm in! But this week may be rough...okay, if I can't do it this week, I'll still check in to see what's going on and what's next.

This sounds like fun!

I'm in too! But I may put my two cents in on Thursday instead of Wednesday.

I'd like to participate also. I'll be off to my library tomorrow to find a copy.

Count me in too. I should be getting more familiar with the literature, but I usually need a good kick in the rear to get started. Consider me kicked.

BTW, I've already read "Golden Boy", but I'll take a look at it again. You can get anthologies of Odet's major plays from B&N or Amazon or any store of that ilk.
